For her professional career, Mathis-Coleman serves as the Director of Recruitment for Diversity and High Need Areas for the Clark County School District Human Resources Division. In this capacity she is responsible for the recruitment and hiring of teachers for the District. She feels privileged to work for an organization with the same values as her own. Tya believes in the tremendous impact that a person can have on the lives of people. She strives to make a difference in the lives of others daily.
In March of 2016, Tya was named, “Greek Woman of the Year” by the Pi Pi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She received the public service award presented by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Theta Pi Lambda Chapter at their Western Regional Conference in 2017 and was named one of Vegas Inc.’s “40 Under 40” in April 2017.
In her free time, Tya enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is the daughter of Raymond and Dr. Beverly Mathis. Tya is married to Sebern Coleman Jr. and they have one daughter, Hunter Grace.
Tya R. Mathis-Coleman is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada and a proud product of the Clark County School District and the Nevada System of Higher Education. She received her Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno and she received her Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2007.Giving back to her community is an important part of her foundation. Tya is a passionate public servant of Southern Nevada. She volunteers with the Les Femmes Douze Debutante Program, the Junior League of Las Vegas and with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
She has been a very active member of the sorority since her initiation into the Tau Mu Chapter at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2004. Since she transitioned to the Las Vegas Alumnae Chapter she has served in several capacities. Currently, she is the Nevada State Coordinator and the local scholarship chairperson. She is also the Immediate Past President of the local chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council.
Mathis-Coleman serves as the Vice President of the Black Community Organizations Network Committee (BCON) where she is responsible for the annual scholarship program. She also works as the Vice President and Debutante Coordinator for the Les Femmes Douze Debutante Program. Through this ten month program she has the opportunity to mentor young girls in the Las Vegas community.
Christina Moon is a Mortgage Loan Originator with Homebridge Financial, a national lending institution operating in theUnited States. She assists home buyers make their home ownership dream a reality. Christina received her B.A. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Accounting & Finance and has a diverse background in the hotel gaming, mortgage and nonprofit industries. She is actively involved in her community, supporting various non-profit organizations including Junior Achievement, the Junior League of Las Vegas, Leadership Henderson, and Leadership Las Vegas. Born in South Korea, Christina has spent nearly all of her life in the United States, growing up in Southern California – and for the last 30 years, as a proud Nevadan. She loves to read, learn new things, and travel including long road trips through national parks. Her true love and passion for her nephew, Juno.
